With all the different cultures in the world, you are bound to find or so practices that clearly have to be interfered with due to the order of magnitude of gratuitous pain that is inflicted on innocent people.

One only axiomatic example is the Nazis mass extermination of the Jew. The United States took the right blood of action of stepping in to stop the Nazis because their actions against the Jews were undoubtedly an act by means of hatred and not cultural practices.
